NYC Farm Colony

Abandoned New York City Farm Colony. The property itself was established in 1676. Multiple buildings date back to 1829, others were erected in the 1920s with the intention of being a self sustained community for the less fortunate. Later integrating with Seaview Hospital and the Willowbrook State School. Source of the Cropsey urban legend that was linked to multiple missing children in the area during the 70s and 80s. Willowbrook and Letchworth were the focus of a 1972 expose that would be the catalyst to mental health care reform.

Psych Hospital

Abandoned Bronx Psychiatric Hospital. Opened in 1963, the sprawling facility was built to house hundreds of psychiatric patients from across New York City. Decades of overcrowding, staffing shortages, and deteriorating conditions led to widespread criticism, with inspectors citing serious concerns over patient care and safety. The center lost its accreditation in 1984 and eventually fell into decline before being replaced by a new behavioral health campus in 2016.

Creedmoor

Abandoned Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens, NY. Originally established in 1912, the campus grew into one of the largest psychiatric institutions in New York, housing more than 7,000 patients at its peak. Chronic overcrowding, understaffing, and allegations of abuse and neglect led to decades of scrutiny. As psychiatric care shifted away from large institutions, much of the sprawling complex was abandoned, leaving behind some of New York's most recognizable psychiatric hospital ruins.

PA Church

Abandoned Ulmer Memorial Chapel at Sleighton Farm School in PA. Completed in 1965, the 300-seat chapel served a campus whose history began with the Philadelphia House of Refuge in 1826. It accommodated Catholic, Jewish, Protestant and nonsectarian services for the young people living at the school. Sleighton later became coeducational before closing in 2001. Today, the chapel remains one of the property’s most striking spaces, reflecting the contrast between sanctuary and the institution’s difficult history.
